Gareth Southgate will retain Sammy Lee and Martyn Margetson on his England coaching staff, with his under-21 assistant Steve Holland joining the senior staff.
Press Association Sport understands that Lee, who was assistant to Sam Allardyce in his brief reign, and recently-appointed goalkeeping coach Margetson will keep their jobs as Southgate begins an initial four-match stint as interim boss.
There has been no final decision on Leicester assistant Craig Shakespeare, who agreed a part-time role that saw him split his time between club and country, but the elevation of Holland suggests he could be moved out.
Holland has also been performing a dual role, acting as first-team coach at Chelsea as well as being Southgate's right-hand man with the Young Lions.
The Football Association had already paved the way for Holland's promotion by moving Aidy Boothroyd up from England U20s to England U21s, with Paul Williams taking over the younger group.
