Juventus held out for an important 2-1 away to Palermo on Saturday thanks to an inspired brace from Romanian striker Adrian Mutu. The Old Lady stretched their lead over Inter Milan to eleven points with this victory, despite an early goal from Palermo's C

After a lightning start to the game, Palermo were able to take a deserved lead in the thirteenth minute.
Terlizzi was somehow able to emerge from within a gaggle of Juventus defenders to strike a half-volley into the net and seemingly put a large dent into Juventus' hopes of extending their Serie A lead.

However, Juve were back on level terms within just three minutes thanks to the finishing of ex-Chelsea striker Mutu.
MUTU MAGIC
Playing in an unfamiliar position on the left, he got on to the end of Zlatan Ibrahimovic header to nod the ball against the bar and then tuck away his own rebound to grab the equaliser, there was no looking back now for Juventus.
They proceeded to dominate proceedings from there and thoroughly deserved to take the lead twenty minutes later.
Zlatan fed the ball to Patrick Vieira who slipped the ball to Mutu who drove home with a confident finish and put Juve in a 2-1 lead they would never relinquish.

Juve were unable to extend their lead though, despite making the running for the rest of the half and emerged for the second period with a more defensive posture.
The Old Lady seemed happy to break the game up and prevent their hosts from playing rather than carrying on their own good work of the opening period.
PROFESSIONAL
In a scrappy second-half, Palermo were unable to express themselves and although they enjoyed the bulk of possession. They were unable to break down a rugged Juve back line and the visitors were able to carve out the better goal scoring opportunities for themselves, chiefly through the craft and guile of Ibrahimovic.
He made himself a number of half chances but he obviously didn't have his shooting boots on today and was unable to trouble the keeper except with a late volley that Lupatelli did well to claw away.

Juventus now hold a lead that should see them lifting the Scudetto later this season. Meanwhile, Palermo are stuck in mid-table after a promising start to the season has evaporated along with any semblance of consistency.
