Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli had warned Reggina - who had claimed 15 of their 18 pre-kickoff points at home - would be a tough proposition on their own turf.
And with captain Francesco Cozza untenable on the right, there were few eyebrows raised as they bolted into a 12th-minute lead.
Cozza's corner was glanced on at the near post and Lucarelli - brother of Livorno striker and last season's capocannonieri Cristiano - showed fraternal finishing skills to volley home at the back post.
But the lead lasted only a handful of seconds.
Viola hitman Luca Toni once again failed to add to his season's tally of 16 goals - his fifth consecutive blank - but it was his aerial dominance that gave Prandelli's an almost instant riposte.
The former Palermo man had already linked well to provide Jorgensen with a wasted half-chance, but when he climbed to nod a high ball into the Dane's path, Jorgensen pounced to nod the ball past Nicola Pavarini.
But despite a more determined second-half effort to claim the points, Fiorentina almost succumbed only for Nicola Amoruso to scuff a glorious chance wide just after the hour.
