Jose Mourinho has already been targeted by Italian club Roma, according to a report on Saturday morning.
Reporter Duncan Castles, who is known to have prominent contacts when it comes to Mourinho, says the deposed Chelsea boss met with Roma owner James Palotta “in a London restaurant on Friday night”.
Roma’s current coach Rudi Garcia is struggling to hold onto his job after the club dropped to fifth in Serie A, seven points behind leaders Inter. They have also gone seven games without a win in all competitions to pile the pressure on their current boss.
Palotta appears to have wasted little time in contacting Mourinho following his sacking by Chelsea this week.
Castles writes on oneworldsports.com:
Mourinho is ready to listen to offers of employment following his dismissal by Chelsea - just seven months after he led the club to a Premier League and League Cup double. The 52-year-old is highly regarded in Italy, where he spent two campaigns with Internazionale, winning back to back Serie A titles, culminating with the unprecedented 2010 Champions League, League and Cup treble.
Our view
Castles also writes for the Sunday Times and it is clear he has close links with Mourinho and the Jorge Mendes stable. If Mourinho did meet Palotta then he’d be one of the first men to find out.
