Steven Caulker set for Capital One Cup start

The on-loan central defender impressed manager Ronald Koeman after coming on against Manchester City at the weekend as a substitute for Fonte, who suffered a cut on his knee that required stitches.

Beyond Fonte and long-term absentees Jay Rodriguez, who will miss the coming seven to eight weeks following ankle surgery, Fraser Forster and Florin Gardos, Koeman has a fully-fit squad from which to choose.
