United to clear the decks after Pogba deal

Jose Mourinho is preparing a Manchester United clear-out following the signing of Paul Pogba from Juventus for a world record fee - according to the Telegraph. Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind, Juan Mata and Bastian Schweinsteiger are all likely to be sold if Mourinho gets his way, although only the German is guaranteed to be out of the first-team plans for the first month of the season. There are also question-marks over the futures of Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Memphis Depay after the trio failed to make the squad for the Community Shield win over Leicester City.
Paper Round's view: It would be a shame for Manchester United to lose four such gifted footballers, but then that's the price you pay for appointing Jose Mourinho as manager. Fit his system and you're fine. Exist outside that and you might as well start looking for a new club even before the notification arrives. Schweinsteiger wouldn't be a huge loss, but the other three are beautiful footballers to watch and have shown glimpses of top-class quality.

Guardiola runs out of patience with Nasri

Samir Nasri has been told to look for another club by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola - reports the Daily Star. The new City boss was reportedly furious with Nasri's fitness and lack of professionalism when he first arrived, but opted to give the Frenchman a couple of weeks to raise his game. Guardiola's opinion of Nasri's approach to training has not softened however, and the Frenchman has been cast aside from regular first-team training as the squad gears up for the start of the new season. AC Milan are thought to be interested in the former Arsenal man.
Paper Round's view: Samir Nasri is not a Pep Guardiola player. It didn't take a football expert to predict this situation arising: take one notoriously lazy trainer and team him up with a manger famed for his intense training-ground techniques. It was always doomed.Nasri himself is an infuriating player, capable of moments of absolute genius, but all too happy to coast through games on the majority of occasions. Guardiola won't tolerate that.

Mario Balotelli set for Chievo switch

Mario Balotelli is on the verge of a move to Serie A side Chievo, report the Mirror. Balotelli, who spent last season on loan at AC Milan, has been deemed surplus to requirements at Liverpool and can find a new club. However, his wages could prove a stumbling block adds the report.

Paper Round’s view: If Liverpool want shot of Balotelli then it is looking increasingly likely that they will have to contribute to his wages. Either that or the player will have to take a pay cut. What is clear though is that a parting of ways suits all parties.
