Reece Oxford, as expected, became West Ham's youngest ever player when the 16-year-old was named in the Hammers side to face FC Lusitans in their Europa League first qualifying round tie at Upton Park.
With a number of senior players rested and new boss Slaven Bilic watching from the stands as academy manager Terry Westley took charge for the evening, England Under-17 captain Oxford started in midfield alongside Diego Poyet.
James Tomkins was named skipper as fellow first-team regulars Joey O'Brien, Morgan Amalfitano and Mauro Zarate also started along with last season's top goalscorer Diafra Sakho and new goalkeeper Darren Randolph.
Lusitans coach Xavi Roura left Barcelona youth product Alfi Conteh-Lacalle and Andorra captain and record cap-holder Oscar Sonejee on the bench for the visitors.
