According to the Daily Mail the Gunners have sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old in action this season, and his encouraging development under Frank de Boer has led to a call-up to the national side.
Though he is yet to win a cap under Danny Blind, he has represented at youth level up until the Under-21s and is expected to make his senior bow sooner than later after being called-up as cover for the injured Davy Klaassen.
The teenager has been tracked by Arsenal since he was 16 but he has consistently chosen to stay in his homeland. But having started every Eredivisie game for Ajax this season, could he be set to outgrow the Dutch league?
So just who is the hottest talent from Dutch football's most famed academy, and how good is he?

How good is he?

Bazoer is a central-midfielder who likes to carry the ball forward and get involved in play high up the pitch. He has an attacking instinct that sees him pick up the ball in deep areas and immediately look to dribble forward, very much in the mould of Paul Pogba.
He possesses quick feet and loves to pull off a trick or two, but he knows where and when to do it.
His first goal for Ajax came in a 4-2 win over FC Twente in February this year when he met Daley Sinkgraven's cross on his chest before firing a left-footed volley into the roof of the net from 12 yards. He has excellent close-control and also the ability to make quick adjustments in his body positioning to pull off such a manoeuvre.
He has the positional discipline and intelligence, along with the mobility and physicality that would make him well suited to midfield battles in the Premier League

How would he fit in at Arsenal?

He moved from PSV Eindhoven to Ajax after Phillip Cocu, the youth coach at the time, played him as a centre-back instead of in his favoured role in the middle of the pitch.
In the Ajax first-team he has often been deployed in a midfield three after De Boer switched from using a solitary defensive midfielder to a 4-3-3 system.
Although a defensive midfielder by trade, he doesn't fit the traditional model - which would suit Arsenal and Wenger's insistence on moving attacking players like Santi Cazorla into a defensively attack-minded position.
In that sense he is a perfect fit for the club and a prototype Arsenal midfielder in the making. He may not be the defensive midfielder that Wenger really needs - a la Portugal under-21 star William Carvalho - but he'd fit in just fine.
