93'

FULL-TIME: Argentina 1-1 Brazil

92'
91'

Alves wants a red card to be shown to Funes Mori, now. It's all getting a bit heated. The Everton defender appeared to trod on the Brazilian's ankle, but there wasn't a red card incident in that.

90'

SENT OFF! David Luiz (Brazil). Having picked up a booking just moments ago, the Brazilian defender has now collected a second yellow. He goes in hard on Biglia, with two feet as well.

89'

YELLOW CARD: David Luiz (Brazil)

88'

OTAMENDI SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER! Biglia's cross into the area is a beauty, but the Manchester City defender heads over the target when he really should have tested the keeper.

87'

YELLOW CARD: Javier Mascherano (Argentina)

86'

Argentina sub: Ever Banega and Gonzalo Higuain OFF, Erik Lamela and Paulo Dybala ON.

85'

Brazil are looking dangerous, and now Costa has a shot saved by Romero. The Bayern Munich man skipped past Alves but his near post effort is collected by the Argentina goalkeeper.

84'
83'

ROMERO IS NEEDED TO MAKE THE SAVE! Neymar drives at the Argentina backline and smashes a striker towards the target from 20 yards, but the goalkeeper palms it over the bar.

82'

HIGUAIN JUST COULDN'T STRETCH FAR ENOUGH! The cross comes in from the left wing from Rojo, but the Napoli striker can't stretch his leg far enough to make the connection.

81'

This has turned into a very open game now. It really is there for the taking, but there's a distinct lack of quality on show in the final third. It could come down to a mistake over a moment of magic.

80'
79'

WILLIAN COMES CLOSE TO FINDING THE NET! The Chelsea forward skips past the challenge of two Argentine defenders and shoots, but his effort is blocked by Funes Mori in the end.

78'

Neymar attempts to dribble through the entire Argentine backline, with the Barcelona man eventually tackled. The ball falls back to Elias, but he smashes his shot well over the bar.

77'
76'

Argentina are trying to build up some momentum for a late push on the Brazil goal. They need three points from this game and will rue their missed chances if they don't get them.

75'

There have been doubts about whether Lavezzi should start for the Albiceleste, but he was arguably the best player on the pitch tonight. The PSG man gave Brazil all kinds if problems.

74'

Argentina sub: Ezequiel Lavezzi OFF, Nico Gaitan ON.

73'
72'

Now it's Argentina who are looking to hit out on the counter attack. The roles of the first half have now been reversed, with Brazil pressing and harrying the opposition into mistakes.

71'

Di Maria just can't get the shot away! He showed great skill to create the opportunity for himself in the first place, but Luiz stuck to his task to make the block at the near post channel.

70'

Brazil are the ones on the front foot now. Argentina were so dominant for so much of this match, but they passed up their chances and now the Selecao are pressing for a win.

69'

Hmmmm.. that's a strange one from Dunga. Lima has been one of the best players on the pitch for Brazil - even when they were second best - but he has been hooked soon after scoring.

68'

Brazil sub: Lucas Lima OFF, Renato Augusto ON.

67'

YELLOW CARD: Nicolas Otamendi (Argentina)

66'
65'

That really could have gone anywhere! The bouncing cross came into the Brazil box from the left side, but Luiz does well to stoop low and header over his own bar. That could have gone anywhere.

64'

YELLOW CARD: Lucas Lima (Brazil)

63'

That's why Costa should have started this match for Brazil! He had been on the pitch for about two minutes before his header against the bar created the equalising goal for his side.

62'

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Argentina 1 Brazil 1 (62 mins - Lucas Lima). Brazil have an equaliser! Alves finds Costa at the back post, who heads against the bar before Lucas smashes home a finish at the second attempt. We are level!

61'

So with Costa now on the pitch, does that mean Neymar will switch into a more central position? This is a system which looks to suit Brazil much more. This could actually make them dangerous.

60'

Costa has finally been thrown on by Dunga, and you have to wonder why he didn't start the match. He has been in sensational form since joining Bayern Munich in the summer.

59'

Brazil sub: Ricardo Oliveira OFF, Douglas Cosa ON.

58'
57'

LUIZ NEEDED TO MAKE THAT INTERCEPTION! Lavezzi's cross into the Brazilian box is a wicked one, with Funes Mori up from the back, but the centre-back sticks out a leg to intercept.

56'

NOT TOO FAR AWAY FROM NEYMAR! The Barcelona man cuts inside and looks to whip a shot into the far corner of the Argentine net, but his effort skips past the far post.

55'

I suppose the idea is to keep the pressure on Brazil at all times, denying them the chance to regroup and organise themselves. This was Argentina are the ones creating mayhem.

54'

Argentina are trying to keep the tempo of their play high. You can see that whenever they win a throw-in, because they are chucking it back into the game as soon as they can.

53'

Why didn't anyone in a yellow shirt gamble? Willian dropped an excellent cross into the six yard box, but not one single Brazilian player has the idea to try and attack the delivery.

52'

Surely we'll see Douglas Costa in this second half at some point? The Bayern Munich man has been in the form of his life this season, and Brazil need some of his attacking spark.

51'
50'

Argentina have started the second half much like how they finished the first half - on top. Brazil just can't get it together and take a grip of this match. They need some control.

49'

SMASHED OFF THE POST! Banega's initial shot is blocked by Miranda, but the Sevilla follows it up with a low effort, which rebounds off the foot of the woodwork! Alisson was beaten!

48'

Brazil need a new plan for this second half. They were overrun in the opening 45 minutes. In fact, Argentina will probably rue that they didn't go into the break with more of a single goal lead.

47'
46'

Argentina made Brazil wait for the start of the second half. Tata's team must have been at least two minutes late in coming out from the dressing room. Fashionably late, they say.

45'

The second half is under way at El Monumental in Buenos Aires. Argentina hold a 1-0 lead over Brazil.

-

What did you make of the first half? What does Dunga need to do at the break to turn this game around? Are things going perfectly for Argentina? Is Neymar doing enough? Tweet me!

47'

HALF-TIME: Argentina 1-0 Brazil. The Albiceleste have the lead and they certainly deserve it on the balance of the opening 45 minutes. Brazil need to regroup at the break.

46'

Di Maria looks so dangerous on the break! He's like a rabbit at the greyhound track to many of these Brazilian defenders. They just can't catch him when he gets up to speed!

45'

Two minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the first half.

44'

DI MARIA WANTS A FREEKICK ON THE EDGE OF THE BOX! The Argentina winger looked to be clean through, but Elias makes the tackle as the last man - and the referee says it was a fair challenge.

43'

With time running out in the first half, Brazil are finally applying some of their own pressure having soaked up so much of it from Argentina. They trail and need to respond.

42'

FIRST BRAZIL CHANCE OF THE NIGHT! Willian swings an excellent freekick into the Argentina area, with Luis jumping to meet it - but the Brazil centre-back can only head just over.

41'

That was a sore one! Funes Mori absolutely flattens Neymar as the two players went for the ball, but I think it was an accident. Funes Moris looked to lose his footing and fall into the Brazilian.

40'
39'

JUST PAST THE POST FROM FUNES MORI! Rojo fizzes an excellent cross into the penalty area, with the Everton defender rises highest to meet it. But his header flashes past the target.

38'

The only way Brazil can stop Argentina at the moment is by fouling them. This time it's Gustavo who is tasked with bringing an opposition attacking to an end. No booking though.

37'

The front three of Argentina have been excellent so far, and they were all involved in that opening goal. Brazil are struggling to keep taps on Di Maria, Higuain and Lavezzi. Irrepressible.

36'
35'

Well, you can't say they haven't deserved it. Argentina have the lead and now Brazil will have to respond. They will need to come out of their shell. They could use the break in 10 minutes time.

34'

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Argentina 1 (34 mins - Ezequiel Lavezzi) Brazil 0. The home side have taken the lead and the roof has blown off the Monumental! Higuain finds space in behind the Brazil backline and crosses for Lavezzi, who finishes from close range!

33'

YELLOW CARD: Filipe Luis (Brazil)

32'

Surely that should be a booking? Filipe knew what he was doing when he clipped the heels of Di Maria when the PSG winger was breaking forward at pace. The referee wants to keep his cards in his pocket, though.

31'

Neymar has been kept relatively quiet in the final third, but he is so good that it could take only a moment for him to make the difference. Or if Brazil win a freekick anywhere near the box.

30'

Brazil just can't get a foothold in this game. They are trying to make an impression by crossing balls into the box, but Otamendi and Funes Mori are both repelling everything thrown at them.

29'

Ah, now Alisson has sunk to the turf with the played stopped at El Monumental. He seems to have twisted his wrist in coming out to punch that freekick from Di Maria. He's hurt.

28'

DI MARIA DRAWS ANOTHER PUNCH FROM ALISSON! The former Manchester United winger's freekick delivery has the keeper worried once again, but the Brazilian punches clear.

27'

The tackles are flying in from some of the Brazilian players. Argentina have the away side rattled, and Gustavo is the one providing the grit and drive in the centre of the midfield.

26'

However, this is the way the Selecao have been playing under Dunga. They are a much more conservative side, looking to absorb pressure and hit hard on the fast counter attack.

25'

Argentina are in complete control of this match at the moment, and the home crowd at El Monumental are right into this. This is getting into uncomfortable territory for Brazil.

24'

And now it's Banega's turn to have a shot at goal! The Sevilla midfielder finds himself in space about 25 yards out, but his effort from range flashes over the crossbar. That wasn't too far away.

23'

Di Maria goes for the volley! Roncaglia meets a pass made down the right flank and crosses into the PSG winger, who tries to take it first time - but he doesn't make the right contact.

22'
21'

Lavezzi is looking dangerous this evening! The PSG striker manages to get to the byline with a turn of pace, but his fizzed pass across the box can't find a teammate and Brazil clear.

20'

These kind of games can be won in the midfield, and Argentina's is looking pretty strong. They have Javier Mascherano, Lucas Biglia and Ever Banega in there. Formidable.

19'

The pitch at El Monumental actually looks in pretty good shape considering the test it was put through last night with the rain in Buenos Aires. It was essentially a swimming pool at this time yesterday.

18'
17'

But then that could be down to the fact that they have not been able to call upon Neymar since the summer. He is so important to this Selecao team. Their hopes depend on him.

16'

There is a sense in Brazil that if they lose this game against Argentina tonight Dunga's job could actually be under threat. Things are not going well for the Selecao at the moment.

15'

Some Brazil fans (in fact, a lot of fans) are unhappy with the way their team are playing under Dunga. Their results have been poor but they are playing a defensive style which is unusual for the Selecao.

14'

Okay, so the pattern of this match is starting to become apparent. Argentina are controlling things in terms of possession, with Brazil looking to hit them hard on the counter attack.

13'
12'

Of course, Neymar missed the latter stages of the Copa America during the summer and this is actually his first game back since that suspension. He was handed a four match ban.

11'

At club level Neymar has stepped into the void left by Messi's injury at Barcelona, and now Brazil need him to play to the same standard. He has so often been the talisman for the Selecao.

10'
9'

The tempo to this game has been outrageous! Both teams are going at it, looking to attack as soon as they have won the ball. I'm hoping this sustains and we get a few goals.

8'

However, Brazil will also be rather reliant on Willian - who has perhaps been the only player at Chelsea this season to boost his reputation. He has been in good form for the struggling Blues.

7'

This is also a chance for Neymar to take a grip of international football's most captivating rivalry. Messi is out injured and so the Barcelona man has the opportunity to step out of his shadow.

6'

DI MARIA GOES EVEN CLOSER! The former Manchester United winger beats Luiz inside the area and fizzes a shot across the face of goal, with the ball flashing past the far post.

5'

This is a big chance for Alisson. He's only 23 years old, but he has impressed for Internacionale this season. This could be the opportunity for him to make the number one shirt his own.

4'

DI MARIA'S CROSS REQUIRES A SAVE! I don't think the PSG winger was shooting, but he fizzed a cross into the Brazilian box and Alisson is called upon to make the flappy save.

3'

Of course, Lionel Messi is missing for Argentina with the number 10 still out through injury. In his place much of the attacking onus will fall on Angel Di Maria. Big pressure on him.

2'

This is a huge match for both these teams. I mean, these games are always huge but even more so because both sides have struggled in their own way somewhat since last summer's World Cup.

1'

After a day of waiting, we're finally under way at the El Monumental! It's Argentina against Brazil in World Cup qualification.
