That's the end of the game and Scotland are beaten 3-0 in their third World Cup qualifier. It's a really disappointing result for Gordon Strachan's side and they face an uphill task to qualify now.
- OffMarek HamšíkSlovakia
- OnFilip KissSlovakia
Final change of the night for Slovakia as Filip Kiss is brought on to replace the captain Hamsik. Cardiff fans might remember Kiss, who spent four years on the books of their clubs, although he made just two appearances in the league in that time following on from a successful loan spell the season before.
Anya and Griffiths have certainly added a bit more purpose to Scotland's play. Will certainly raise questions for Strachan as to why they didn't start.
- OffRóbert MakSlovakia
- OnDušan ŠventoSlovakia
There's another change for Slovakia as Robert Mak comes off to a very warm applause, what a night he has had. His replacement is Dusan Svento.
Another attempt from Bannan, this time down the right with his right, and he forces a decent save from Kozacik.
And the substitute McGinn plays a nice through-ball to Griffiths but he drags his shot wide.
- OffSteven FletcherScotland
- OnJohn McGinnScotland
Steven Fletcher's night is over. He's been taken off with around 15 minutes to go, with John McGinn coming on.
Do you remember when I said that despite losing Slovakia were doing well to keep possession? Well that isn't happening any more. The Scots can't get near the ball at the moment.
- OffAdam NemecSlovakia
- OnMarek BakošSlovakia
And with that Nemec takes his leave of this game. He's replaced by Marek Bakos.
- GoalAdam NemecSlovakia
GOAL! SLOVAKIA 3-0 (NEMEC)
Oh dear. It's just so, so easy for Slovakia. A corner is sent in by Mak and Nemec just stands and nods it into the net. Far too simple.
Decent effort from the edge of the area by Bannan but it's straight at Kozacik. Just in case you're wondering Russell Martin is now the captain.
- OffMatt RitchieScotland
- OnIkechi AnyaScotland
Right it's time for some substitutions. Matt Ritchie and Darren Fletcher are off. Ikechi Anya and Leigh Griffiths are on.
Marshall has been a busy bee today. This time a cross come shot is fired in from the right by Mak and he not only makes the save but gets it away from danger.
- GoalRóbert MakSlovakia
GOAL! 2-0 SLOVAKIA (MAK)
That's a lovely goal. Hamsik slips the ball through to Holubek and he squares the ball to Mak. He sells Martin a dummy and calmly slots past Marshall, great finish.
Erik Sabo thinks he's gone after lunging in on Tierney. Luckily for him the referee decides it's only a corner, which is comfortably claimed by Kozacik.
That's a great chance for Slovakia as Duris floats a ball to the back post but luckily Fletcher has got there in time to make the clearance.
These long throws from Paterson are causing some bother, Durica has to be alert to put the ball behind for a corner. From which Skrtel clears the ball with a terrific header.
A long throw from Paterson leaves Scotland convinced they should have a penalty. However the referee sees a handball and gives the free-kick to Scotland.
Welcome back, we're back underway for the second-half. Can Scotland find the equaliser?
- End of 1st Half
And that's half-time. Their team are winning but the Slovakian fans clearly aren't happy, there are some boos as the teams come off.
Steven Fletcher and Jakub Holubek both take whacks in the space of ten seconds but both are able to get up and continue without too much attention from the medical team.
More patient build-up from Scotland but once again the end pass is the one that lets them down, as the cross from the left is easily cleared by Slovakia.
Mak's at it again. The winger cuts inside onto his right foot just outside the box and curls a shot into the far corner. Marshall does well to parry it behind. From the corner Slovakia have another great opportunity through Durica but Marshall is alert to the danger and makes a fine save.
Well that just about sums it up really doesn't it. The ball gets fired into Steven Fletcher's feet and his touch sees it roll harmlessly out of play.
That's electric from Paterson. He knocks the ball into space and beats two men but unfortunately Skrtel gets across to reach the ball first. A great display of pace from the full-back though.
At the moment Scotland are playing some nice football but it's just breaking down at the crucial moment.
This is better from Scotland, they're starting to have more of the ball and are spending more time in the Slovakia half. The home side aren't afraid to go in late on their opponents though. The referee is keen to let the game flow however he isn't dishing out any retrospective action.
It seems to say that it'll all be over if Scotland lose today, after all we're only three games in. But this group is one of the most competitive so could miss out on a second placed team going into a play-off.
Tierney has dragged a shot wide meanwhile.
Slovakia are making a few niggly little fouls in order to try and disrupt the flow of the game, in fact they're up to nine now already. Can't be too far away from some more yellow cards.
Well Ritchie has proven me wrong, he's teed up by Bannan and tries to get a shot away. Unsurprisingly it's charged down.
Scotland have a free-kick on the right around 30 yards out. Too wide for a shot but it's in a great area for a cross. Ritchie and Bannan stand over it...
Scotland have a good chance up the other end, with Kozacik making a good save from Fletcher but the goal has clearly rattled them. They need to find something to get back into the game.
On another note that goal from Mak was Slovakia's first since the Euros in the summer.
- GoalRóbert MakSlovakia
GOAL! 1-0 SLOVAKIA (MAK)
Well that was interesting. Scotland think they should have had a free-kick in a dangerous area when Steven Fletcher is shoved off the ball but nothing is given.
Slovakia then counter and the ball is put in towards the back post. Marshall makes an excellent save from the header but the ball rebounds to Robert Mak who volleys the ball into the roof of the net.
- Yellow cardErik SaboSlovakia
Scotland have a free-kick on the left, which sees Erik Sabo pick up the first yellow of the game, and it is swung in and causes a bit of pinball in the Slovakia box. However it doesn't really come to anything and the ball eventually ends up with goalkeeper Matus Kozacik.
Now it's Slovakia's turn to have a shot and David Marshall has to get down low to his right to parry a dangerous shot away from Durica.
Great opportunity for Steven Fletcher as he is found free in the box from a wonderful cross from Robert Snodgrass. However he sends his free header wide.
Matt Ritchie sends in a low ball from the right but it is easily cleared by Slovakia. The chance to cross came from a good run from Callum Paterson.
Jan Durica, who was so impressive in the Euros, tries to bring the ball out from the back but he is upended by two Scotland players. Skrtel is barking orders from behind his mask, I wonder what time he will pick up his inevitable booking.
It's been a pretty cagey start so as you might imagine. A question of who's going to blink first I'd guess.
Early free-kick for Scotland as Duris comes in late on McArthur
- 1st Half
Here we go, Slovakia captain Martin Skrtel is sporting one of those trendy new face masks that everyone seems to have.
The teams are out and we're just a few minutes away from kick-off as the national anthems play.
WHAT THEY'VE SAID
Here's Scotland captain Darren Fletcher speaking yesterday to the media before the game.
"Slovakia aren't in a good place just now, and with them being second seeds in the group, if we could win here then it would be massive. Even coming here and not losing would put us in a strong position in the group with plenty of games to play.
"We're not ruling ourselves out. We're still in this group and still fighting, there's still a long way to go and we still believe in ourselves."
It may be a tough task ahead for Scotland but at least their recent performances away from home make for good viewing.
So far Scotland have picked up four points, beating Malta and drawing with Lithuania. The former result was expected but the latter was something of a disappointment.
However they can take solace from the fact that Slovakia have lost twice, to England Slovenia which means the second seeds are second bottom, ahead of Malta on goal difference.
With England and Slovenia to come in the next two fixtures it's important that Scotland get a positive result tonight.
SLOVAKIA TEAM NEWS
Kozacik, Sabo, Skrtel (C), Durica, Holubek, Kucka, Skriniar, Duris, Hamsik, Mak, Nemec
The danger man is of course Napoli's Marek Hamsik but as Slovakia showed in the European Championships they are a developing team who have to be taken seriously.
SCOTLAND TEAM NEWS
Here is how Scotland will line up tonight.
Marshall, Tierney, Hanley, R. Martin, Paterson, D. Fletcher (C), McArthur, Bannan, Ritchie, Snodgrass, S. Fletcher
So that means that Andrew Robertson, Oliver Burke and Chris Martin all drop out following the 1-1 draw with Lithuania. Their replacements are Kieran Tierney, James McArthur and Steven Fletcher. It seems that Barry Bannan will either be pushed forward or Gordon Strachan is opting for a 4-5-1.
