Sebastian Vettel’s crash on the opening day of Pirelli’s wet tyre test at Fiorano has forced Ferrari to curtail its two-day session due to a lack of spare parts, per Motorsport.com.

The German was bruised but unharmed after losing control of the Scuderia’s mule car - a 2015-spec SF15-T modified to simulate 2017 downforce levels - and hitting the barriers head-on.
After assessing the extent of the damage, Ferrari was forced to abandon the test, which took place on an artificially-drenched track.

Pirelli's wet weather tyres came under heavy criticism from drivers after last year's Brazilian Grand Prix, with the rubber's performance having been judged as insufficient.
The test’ premature ending means new Ferrari reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi, who was scheduled to take over from Vettel on Friday, will be denied valuable F1 track time.
