Force India brought a new innovation in Formula 1 car design to the recent Singapore Grand Prix, adding more than 30 small fins to the top of its engine cover.
The 'Stegosaurus' design, as named by Force India, was aimed at improving the airflow to a more aggressive T-wing that was in place for the high-downforce requirements of the twisty Marina Bay street circuit.
In this video from Motorsport.tv's weekly programme The Flying Lap, Peter Windsor and Craig Scarborough look in greater detail at the purpose of the fins, and our 3D airflow animation gives a clearer picture of the impact the design can have.
