The Motorsport Network's acquisition of a shareholding in Formula E was driven by fan interest and the scope to generate unique content, chairman Zak Brown says.
Motorsport Network, the owner of Autosport, announced on Saturday that it has acquired a stake in the electric single-seater series.
The deal was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the scene of Formula E's maiden eSports event.
Gamer Bono Huis won the race and the top $200,000 prize, while Formula E's third season continues on-track in Buenos Aires on February 18.
