With Thursday's qualifying rounds called off due to lack of visibility, Friday's action got underway with qualifying heats for the 35 male competitors, with the top ten progressing to the final. All 30 female competitors went straight to finals.
Ferreira, of the USA, scored 92.60 in his first run to earn the top qualifying spot, before stepping up his efforts for the final.

Kevin Rolland of France, the current Olympic bronze medallist, took the silver medal with a best score of 90.20, with Canada's Simon D'Artois completing the podium line-up.
"I'm just super happy to land it," said Ferreira.
"I was just going for big air and good clean grabs, just good smooth skiing, something for the spectators."
In the women's event, Kelly Sildaru of Estonia charged into the competition fresh from her win in the World Cup Slopestyle in Cardrona last week, and sat at the top of the scoreboard after her first run score of 90.20 points.
But, despite only posting a score of 85.20 in her first run, Sharpe was able to up her efforts to score 91.00 in the second and overtake Sildaru at the top of the standings.
France's Marie Martinod took the bronze medal, with a score of 84.40.
"I knew what I had to do," said Canadian Sharpe.
"Kelly came out there with a really strong run, I just wanted to boost, get all my grabs and get ahead of her because she had a great run.
"I'm stoked, the judges saw what I was trying to do and I'm really, really happy."
