Mikael Kingsbury believes he is building valuable momentum ahead of the Winter Olympics after cruising to victory at the Freestyle Skiing World Cup.
At the World Cup opener in Ruka, Finland, the Canadian produced a score of 87.45 to snatch the win ahead of Kazakhstan's Dmitriy Reikherd with the latter's compatriot Pavel Kolomakov in third.
With the Games just two months away, the 25-year-old is full of confidence and believes he can go to PyeongChang as the favourite to win gold.
"It's important to me to arrive at the Olympics as the favourite, if it's possible," said Kingsbury, who won moguls silver at Sochi 2014.
"Just to start the season that way I'm creating momentum and building my confidence high.
"I'm going to do everything I can to keep it with me and arrive at my best in PyeongChang."
In the women's event, Britteny Cox continued to show her good form as she powered to victory with a score of 80.32.
The Australian edged out Canada's Audrey Robichaud and Marika Pertakhiya of Russia.
Robichaud was delighted with her run in Finland and cannot wait to keep up her good form.
She said: "I feel really good right now. I'm really stoked. I'm just really excited for the rest of the season.
"I've been lacking confidence in the last few years and this has definitely given me a boost.
"Of course the Olympics are in the back of my mind but I don’t try to focus on it."
