DAY FOUR

00:00 WILLET WINS THE MASTERS

Danny Willett holds his nerve with a birdie-par-par finish to close with a final round of 67. Jordan Spieth is still playing the 18th, but there's no way he can catch the Englishman now.

2150 SPIETH COLLAPSES WITH QUADRUPLE BOGEY AT 12TH

Amazing scene at Augusta National as Jordan Spieth plunked two balls into Rae's Creek at the par-three 12th for an astonishing quadruple bogey. Suddenly, he found himself three strokes behind Danny Willett, who led by one stroke from fellow Englishman Lee Westwood after he eagled the par-five 15th.

2110 OOSTHUIZEN MAKES AN ACE FOR THE AGES

As if aces by Shane Lowry and Davis Love III at the par-three 16th were not enough excitement for one day, Louis Oosthuizen outdid them when his ball collided with that of J.B. Holmes, who had previously hit his tee shot to five feet, and took a slight deviation into the hole.

2105 FRONT NINE BIRDIE BINGE HAS SPIETH SEEING GREEN

Spieth was closing in on a second Green Jacket, draining four consecutive birdies from the sixth to storm to the turn at Augusta National with a five shot lead. If the 22-year-old American can hold on he would become just the fourth man to win back-to-back Masters titles joining an exclusive club that comprises Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods.

2015 NO SMYLIES AFTER KAUFMAN CARDS BOGEY BOGEY

Masters rookie Smylie Kaufman appeared to be suffering from a case of major jitters after carding back-to-back bogeys at the third and fourth holes to slip down the Augusta leaderboard. Kaufman began the day one back of overnight leader Jordan Spieth, who moved two shots clear of the pack after six holes.

1930 MORE LOVE AT THE 16TH

United States Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III produced a little Masters magic with an ace with a seven-iron at the 180-yard, par-three 16th shortly after Ireland's Shane Lowry watched his tee shot roll into the cup at the hole known as Rosebud.

1900 HOLE IN ONE BY LOWRY

Lowry aced the 16th with an eight-iron, his ball catching the slope and feeding deliciously into the hole, which is in its traditional easy Sunday position.

1857 KAUFMAN MISSES SHORT BIRDIE PUTT AT FIRST HOLE

Masters first-timer Kaufman flagged his 135-yard approach shot into the par-four first but missed the birdie putt and a chance to tie Spieth for the lead.

1850 MCILROY STALLS WITH TWO EARLY BOGEYS

Rory McIlroy, five strokes back starting the day, needs a near-perfect round to have a chance of winning. After bogeying the first, he drove the green at the 350-yard par-four fourth for a two-putt birdie. But a bogey at the fourth hurt.

1805 POULTER PREDICTS SOME LOW ROUNDS BY LATE STARTERS

Ian Poulter, out in the third pairing of the day, shot one-under 71 before saying the course could yield some extremely low scores, thanks to some generous traditional Sunday pin positions: "If you play a very clean round you could definitely shoot seven or eight under par," he said.

1745 WIND DROPS AND SO DOES SCORING IN MASTERS FINAL ROUND

With the winds down at Augusta National, so is the scoring in the final round of the Masters. French amateur Romain Langasque, just the third player to tee off on Sunday, set the early target by carding a four-under 68. Langasque opened with a bogey but was error-free the rest of the way, racking up five birdies on the back nine, including four in the last five holes.

1445 NA KICKS OFF FINAL ROUND

Backmarker Kevin Na set off in the first pairing of the day in the Masters final round, teeing off at the par-four opening hole with a non-competing marker. He went on to make a fast start, with an eagle at the par-five second after his second shot from 300 yards nestled up to three feet from the pin. He also birdied the third to get to three under for the day.

1330 COLD BUT RELATIVELY CALM CONDITIONS AT AUGUSTA

The coldest temperatures of the week but the calmest conditions greeted the early starters at Augusta National. After three days of strong gusting winds, light breezes of up to 12 mph (19 kph) have been forecast as the year's opening major reaches its conclusion. By noon, the mercury was expected to peak at 57 degrees Fahrenheit (14 degrees Celsius).

---

DAY THREE

0030 WINDS TO FINALLY ABATE FOR FINAL ROUND

After three days of strong winds, conditions are forecast to moderate significantly on Sunday, with a gentle breeze of no more than 10 mph (16 kph).

0025 SPIETH AND KAUFMAN TO START FINAL ROUND AT 7.45 pm

Jordan Spieth and Smylie Kaufman will play in the final pairing, preceded 10 minutes earlier by Bernhard Langer and Hideki Matsuyama. Kevin Na will be the dew sweeper, getting Sunday action under way at 9.45 am ET in the company of a marker.

2325 SPIETH OPENS DOOR WITH CLOSING DOUBLE BOGEY

Just when Spieth looked like he would run away with the Masters, a funny thing happened on the way to the clubhouse. A bogey at 17 was followed by a double at the par-four 18th, where the defending champion pushed his drive into trees, punched out, hit a wedge to 50 feet and then three-putted to finish the day at three-under, one stroke ahead of fellow American Smylie Kaufman.

2210 LANGER NOT SURPRISED TO BE IN CONTENTION AT AGE 58

"It can happen in the game of golf. There's not many other sports where that can be the case," Germany's Bernhard Langer, a twice former Masters champion now aged 58, said after moving into contention by shooting a 70 for a one-under total of 215.

2141 SPIETH'S LEAD CUT TO ONE WITH DOUBLE-BOGEY ON 11

Jordan Spieth falters as he starts the notorious three-hole stretch of Amen Corner, missing a five-footer to three-putt the tricky par-four 11th for his lead to be cut to just one shot at three-under.

2120 SPIETH MAINTAINS LEAD

Jordan Spieth remained anchored at the top of the Masters leaderboard while Rory McIlroy was labouring in gusting winds as the marquee pair reached the third round turn at blustery Augusta National on Saturday. It was moving day at the year's first major and there was plenty of that going on around Augusta as heavy winds had everything from chairs to hats cartwheeling down the slopes bordering some of the fairways.
But Spieth, who began the day clinging to a one-shot lead over McIlroy, refused to be dislodged from the top spot as he increased his advantage to three strokes over a hard-working Hideki Matsuyama. After struggling through the opening two rounds, world number one Jason Day finally found some consistent form as he charged into contention with back-to-back birdies highlighted by a 69-footer at the 14th to get to one-under, four off the lead.

2050 SPIETH BIRDIES EIGHTH HOLE FOR THREE-SHOT LEAD

Clutch putting has kept Jordan Spieth in front, and he holes another tester, a four-footer for birdie at the par-five eighth, to take a three-shot lead over Hideki Matsuyama. Jason Day, meanwhile, has made an all-world birdie at the 14th, draining a 70-footer to go one-under.

1957 BLUSTERY AUGUSTA BRUTAL FOR SCOTT

Australian Adam Scott, the 2013 Masters champion, after struggling to a three-over 75 in the third round to finish 12 strokes off the early pace: "It's so brutally difficult out there, there's no birdie opportunities and it's just a scramble all day. "The greens are so, so tough. They're so fast ... blustery conditions, it's just impossible to really control the ball."

1935 HORSCHEL MAKES BOGEY AFTER BALL BLOWS OFF GREEN

A bizarre bogey for Billy Horschel at the par-five 15th, where he was a victim of the wind. After reaching the green with his second shot, he marked and replaced his ball expecting no worse than a two-putt birdie. However, his ball rolled off the green and into the pond. Under the rules, he had to take a penalty stroke and drop his ball no closer to the hole.

1920 SPIETH EXTENDS LEAD WITH BIRDIE AT PAR-FIVE SECOND

Spieth has taken advantage of the easiest hole on the course, posting a two-putt birdie to improve to five-under, while Rory McIlroy can only par after driving into a greenside bunker and remains three-under.

EARLY SCORING AVERAGE MORE THAN 75 STROKES

Despite the strong, gusty winds, the scoring average so far of 75.14, a little more than three over par, is only marginally higher than the second round. It is worth noting though that the field is stronger once the cut is made and struggling players have been sent home.

1720 SCOTT HITS MONSTER DRIVE AT PAR-FOUR 11TH

The wind can hurt but also help. Adam Scott, the 2013 champion, has just poked his tee shot 345 yards at the 11th, the longest drive recorded at the hole all week.
Scott has dropped one shot in 10 holes, a decent performance, but at five-over has his work cut out to get near the leaders, especially with the winds forecast to abate slightly during the afternoon.

1650 ROCKY KISNER GETS LUCKY BOUNCE

Kevin Kisner's second shot at the par-five 13th struck a rock in a tributary of Rae's Creek and ricocheted 50 yards back towards him. That left him 70 yards from the hole and he used the lucky break to pitch on and two-putt for par.

1625 HOFFMAN HOLES BUNKER SHOT FOR PAR AT SEVENTH

There are many ways to make a par, and American Charley Hoffman took his own route to a four at the 434-yard par-four seventh hole by holing a 10-yard bunker shot. He remains seven-over after dropping three shots.
The seventh hole is playing hardest on the course so far, with a scoring average of nearly 4.8 strokes. Among the first 14 players, there has been one birdie, four pars, six bogeys and three doubles.

1330 WATSON IS THAT YOU? BUBBA FIRST OFF IN ROUND THREE

Twice Masters champion Bubba Watson, the 57th and last man to make the midway cut, was first off on another blustery day at Augusta National, playing in the company of a non-competing marker.

In the past, Augusta National club member Jeff Knox has had the game to keep pace with the best players when he has performed that duty, beating Rory McIlroy by one shot during the 2014 Masters when they were partnered together.

1305 POSSIBLE WEATHER ADVANTAGE FOR LEAD PAIRING

Masters leader Jordan Spieth and world number three Rory McIlroy could have an advantage when they tee off in the final pairing of the third round at 2:50 p.m. (1850 GMT), as the heavy winds forecast for Saturday are expected to subside by that point. Strong gusts of up to 30 mph (48 kph) have been predicted at Augusta National between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

DAY TWO

2320 SPIETH SAVES PAR AT FINAL HOLE TO PRESERVE LEAD

Jordan Spieth sinks a clutch 14-footer to save par at the final hole and ensure himself the halfway lead at four-under 140. But amateur Bryson DeChambeau makes a mess of the par-four 18th with a triple bogey to plunge four shots off the pace.

Watched by packed galleries around the 18th green, an emotional Tom Watson parred the final hole to card a six-over 78 in his last competitive round at the Masters, destined to miss the cut and bow out after making his 43rd career start in the year's first major championship.

2105 PAR A GOOD SCORE AS AUGUSTA WINDS SWIRL

The swirling winds at Augusta National continue to vex the players, with only nine in the elite field of 89 under par for the tournament late into the second round.

2030 WINDS TROUBLE BUBBA

Twice former Masters champion Bubba Watson felt totally out of place this week at windy Augusta as posted a six-over 150 halfway total and was in danger of missing the cut for the first time in eight starts at his favourite tournament.
"The golf course beat me this year and so I just got to improve, try to get better around this place," said Watson. "Conditions of the course are very difficult, no matter if there's wind or not."

1935 SPIETH DOUBLE-BOGEYS FIFTH HOLE

Moments after taking a five-shot lead, defending champion Jordan Spieth four-putts the fifth hole for a double bogey. The winds, not only strong but also gusty, are starting to wreak havoc with the field.

1845 WOOSNAM CALLS TIME ON MASTERS CAREER

Welshman Ian Woosnam, the 1991 champion who has been struggling with joint pain, decided to call time on his competitive run at the Masters after following his opening 10-over 82 with an 81.
"I said in the past that if started shooting in the 80s, I would call it a day," said the 58-year-old, who has competed in 28 Masters. "I am in just in pain all the way round and you can't expect to play well. It's time for me to sit back and watch."

1810 EARLY BIRDIE FOR LEADER SPIETH

Two ahead after the opening round, defending champion Jordan Spieth held a three-stroke lead by the time he stepped on to the first tee for the second round and he maintained that advantage when he sank a 14-foot birdie putt at the par-four opening hole to move to seven under, three ahead of Spaniard Sergio Garcia.

1558 (BST) SOUTH AFRICAN CHALLENGE ALL BUT PETERS OUT

High hopes for a South African Masters winner have all but petered out.

After Ernie Els had six putts at the first hole on Friday, Branden Grace had troubles of his own when he took six strokes to hole out from just short of the sixth green, for a quadruple bogey.
Charl Schwartzel, the 2011 champion, is also battling at seven-over through nine holes, leaving Louis Oosthuizen, who had an opening round 72, as the only realistic hope from his country.

1535 LEE FALLS BACK WITH FOUR-PUTT DOUBLE BOGEY

Danny Lee birdied the second hole to climb within one stroke of overnight leader Jordan Spieth, only to double-bogey the third where he four-putted from 50 feet.

1500 MORE BIG TROUBLE FOR BIG EASY AT THE FIRST

South African Ernie Els who had a nightmare start to the Masters when he six-putted the first hole for nine, once again stumbled out of the gate missing from two-feet to take a double bogey six at the first in round two.

1400 MIKE WEIR RUNS UP DOUBLE BOGEYS AT FIRST

Tea Olive, the first hole at Augusta National, continued to provide trouble as Canadian Mike Weir carded a double bogey six to get second-round play underway under sunny skies at the Masters when he three-putted from 10 feet. South African Ernie Els made a nightmare start to the year's first major on the same hole on Thursday when he six-putted for a nine. (Compiled by Steve Keating. Editing by Andrew Both)

DAY ONE

2330 MCILROY SHOOTS 70 AFTER BOGEYING THE LAST

Rory McIlroy, bidding this week to complete a career grand slam of the four major titles, bogeyed the final hole after his approach ended up in a plugged lie in a greenside bunker to card an opening 70.
The Northern Irishman was playing in the final group of the day, and his finish ensured that defending champion Jordan Spieth held a two-stroke lead after an enthralling opening round in blustery conditions at Augusta National.

2155 LATE TRIPLE-BOGEY TRIPS UP DAY

World number one Jason Day was just two shots off the lead at four-under when he tripled-bogeyed the par-three 16th after hitting his tee shot into water, reloading and then three-putting.

20:55 CLAW GRIP WORKS WELL FOR ROSE

Former U.S. Open champion Justin Rose carded a 69 after switching to a claw putting grip only last week: "I stumbled across it on my week off and it just felt too good to deny it. I second-guessed it a few times last week but it stayed true and I putted well today."

20:10 DECHAMBEAU IN AWE OF SPIETH'S PUTTING

American Bryson DeChambeau, the U.S. Amateur champion who made his Masters debut in the company of last year's winner Jordan Spieth: "Something I'll never forget, and especially playing with Spieth, and him shooting 66. I was thoroughly impressed with how he controlled his putts in the wind."

19:40 LYLE SUMS UP CONDITIONS

"When the wind's like this, it sorts the men from the boys," said 1988 Masters champion Sandy Lyle.

19:37 WATSON LAMENTS PENALTY

Dual Masters champion Tom Watson called a penalty stroke on himself when his ball moved as he stood over a short putt at the seventh hole: "I caused it to move," he said, refusing to blame the strong wind.
Watson, playing in his 43rd and final Masters, opened with a two-over 74.

19:10 FLAWLESS SPIETH GRABS THREE-SHOT LEAD

Defending champion Jordan Spieth piled up six birdies in a flawless display at a blustery Augusta National, carding a six-under 66 to seize an early three-shot lead in the year's opening major.

18:40 FOWLER BATTLES TO A ROLLER-COASTER 80

American world number five Rickie Fowler started out with a double-bogey, then added three birdies, four bogeys, a triple and one more double to card an adventurous eight-over 80 in the opening round that included 30 putts.

17:35 ELS RUNS UP A 10 ON PAR-FOUR FIRST

Former world number one Ernie Els made a nightmare start to the opening round, seven-putting from just two feet at the par-four first to run up a mind-boggling 10.

17:15 UNCOMFORTABLE MASTERS DEBUT FOR HERMAN

Masters debutant Jim Herman after carding a three-over-par 75: "The greens are something else. I didn't feel comfortable at all on any putt. Anything around par was going to be great ... I ended up bogeying the last for three-over."

16:08 SPIETH TAKES LEAD AT THREE-UNDER

Defending champion Jordan Spieth sinks a four-foot birdie at the par-five eighth to take the sole lead at three-under, moments after Victor Dubuisson found Rae's Creek at the famous par-three 12th for double bogey and dropped off the leaderboard.

15:20 FOWLER REBOUNDS FROM POOR START

American world number five Rickie Fowler rebounded from a double-bogey at the par-four first with birdies at the second and third to get back to level par in the opening round.

15:02 SPIETH SCRAMBLES AN OPENING PAR

Reigning Masters champion Jordan Spieth did well to par the opening hole after he pushed his approach well right of the green, chipping up to two feet and sinking the putt.

13:20 MASTERS DEBUTANT HERMAN STRIKES FIRST COMPETITIVE SHOT

American journeyman Jim Herman, a Masters debutant who earned the final spot in a field of 90 for this year's edition by winning the Houston Open on Sunday, struck the tournament's first competitive shot by teeing off at the opening hole.

13:05 PLAYER OUTDRIVES NICKLAUS

South African Gary Player, at the age of 80, outdrove his longtime friend Jack Nicklaus, 76, by 15 yards as the two golfing greats launched the 80th Masters by hitting the ceremonial first shots at the par-four opening hole. A frail Arnold Palmer, 86, looked on. (Compiled by Mark Lamport-Stokes; Editing by Larry Fine)
