The 29-year-old Zatkoff (0-3-0, 4.37 goals-against average) needed assistance to get off the ice for the Kings, who are reeling from losing franchise goaltender Jonathan Quick to a groin injury during the first period of the season opener. Quick is expected to be sidelined at least three months.
Peter Budaj, who was recalled following Quick's injury, is expected to get the start on Saturday night against the undefeated Vancouver Canucks.
Los Angeles also recalled goaltender Jack Campbell on an emergency basis from Ontario of the American Hockey League.

The Dallas Stars activated forward Ales Hemsky from injured reserve.
Hemsky, 33, missed the first four games of the 2016-17 season due to a groin injury he sustained during the World Cup of Hockey. The native of Pardubice, Czech Republic, registered 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) in 75 regular-season games with Dallas last season.
The Stars also placed forward Jiri Hudler (illness) on injured reserve, retroactive to the game on Oct. 15 against Colorado. Hudler has appeared in two games this season, recording two takeaways.

The Arizona Coyotes assigned defenseman Jarred Tinordi to Tucson of the American Hockey League.
Tinordi served a 20-game suspension for violating the terms of the league's performance-enhancing substance program.
Tinordi was acquired by the Coyotes in a three-team trade involving the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators in mid-January.
