July 25 (The Sports Xchange) - Willie Desjardins, who was recently fired by the Vancouver Canucks, will be the head coach of Team Canada at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, Hockey Canada announced Tuesday.

The organization also announced that Sean Burke will be the general manager, and Martin Brodeur will be a member of the management group for the team.

The New York Rangers signed center Mika Zibanejad to a five-year, $26.75 million contract, the team announced.

Goaltender Robin Lehner and the Buffalo Sabres have agreed on a one-year contract worth $4 million, the team announced.
Lehner, 26, posted the ninth-highest save percentage (.920) for a Sabres goalie with at least 40 games played last season. The former second-round pick won a career-high 23 games (23-26-8) with a 2.68 goals against average.

Matt Nieto is returning to the Colorado Avalanche on a one-year deal, the team announced.
Nieto, a 24-year-old left wing who joined the Avalanche off waivers on Jan. 5 and played the final 43 games of his season with the team, avoided arbitration and will make $1 million next season, Sportsnet reported.

Defenseman Mark Streit is joining the Montreal Canadiens on a one-year deal, the team announced.
The Canadiens did not disclose the value of the deal, but multiple reports claim it is worth $700,000.
Streit, 39, spent the 2016-17 season with the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins, totaling six goals and 21 assists for 27 points in 68 games last season.
