Rinaldo banned for illegal check, Nashville give Salomaki contract extention - NHL Round Up

Boston Bruins forward Zac Rinaldo has been suspended for five games without pay due to an illegal check to the head, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Tuesday.
The incident occurred in Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning when Rinaldo delivered the check to the head of Tampa Bay forward Cedric Paquette. Rinaldo received a minor penalty for the first-period incident.

The Nashville Predators agreed on a two-year contract extension with forward Miikka Salomaki, the club announced.
The deal is worth $1.225 million, according to the Predators. Salomaki, 23, has seven points (four goals, three assists) in 45 games this season.

The Buffalo Sabres recalled forwards Daniel Catenacci and Cal O'Reilly from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League, the team announced.
Catenacci played three games for the Sabres earlier this season without scoring a point. O'Reilly has one assist in five games with Buffalo this season.

The Calgary Flames assigned defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon to the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.
Wotherspoon, 22, played in six games for the Flames and didn't score. He has four assists in 40 games for Stockton this season.
