Portuguese fighter Joao Carvalho has died from injuries suffered during a bout in Dublin on Saturday.

Carvalho was taken to hospital after a technical knockout to Charlie Ward at the Total Extreme Fighting 1 event at the National Boxing Stadium.

The 28-year-old collapsed roughly 20 minutes after the fight and was treated on site before being transferred to Beaumont hospital.

Carvalho underwent an operation to relieve pressure on his brain but passed away late on Monday, Total Extreme Fighting confirmed on their Facebook page.
