Former racer Loris Capirossi will become MotoGP promoter Dorna's representative on a trimmed grand prix race direction panel in 2017.
Capirossi, who won nine premier class races with Yamaha, Honda and Ducati, became a safety advisor after retiring from MotoGP at the end of the 2011 season.
The Italian joined race direction in 2013 as the riders' representative, but will become Dorna's appointee following the departure of its events managing director Javier Alonso.
He will continue to line up alongside race director and IRTA representative Mike Webb and the FIM's Franco Uncini in what becomes a three-man panel.
