Riessle and Germany rule the roost in Lahti

Riessle actually sat fifth following the ski-jump portion, with compatriot Eric Frenzel in first meaning there was a 16 second gap between the pair heading into the cross-country race,

But while Frenzel could only come home in 25:48.8 minutes, Riessle posted a time of 25:28.2 to claim victory by 4.6 seconds.

That meant that Frenzel had to settle for runner-up, while fellow German Johannes Rydzek leapt from 15th following the ski-jump thanks to a fastest cross-country time of 24:56.8 to finish third.

Despite being pipped to the top step of the podium Frenzel still leads the overall World Cup standings on 634 points.

He is 44 points ahead of Rydzek, while Riessle is third on 478 as the Germans continuing to dominate proceedings.
