Robby Gordon was left to rue his misfortune after contaminated petrol cost him nearly three hours on stage four. The American Hummer driver has fallen over three and a half hours behind race leader Carlos Sainz, but believes he can still compete for stage victories.

"We have just been hit bad luck across the board. The latest one was fuel-related," said the NASCAR star, who spent much of the trip from Er Rachidia to Ouarzazate crawling along due to clogged fuel injectors.
"We chased it with spark plug wires that got burned, and we didn't put two and two together, that the spark plug wires got burned because the injectors were clogged," he said on his webcast.
"I'm hugely disappointed, we have given up three and a half hours due to bad gas. Our goal was to come here and win. This race is tough.
"What you saw today was a very good special for our car, the Hummer would have been really good, because it is very similar to Jean-Louis Schlesser's car.
"And he beat those guys by 10 minutes, let's say we would have beaten them by 20, enough time to make a couple of mistakes. Hopefully we have got all our bogeys out of the way."
