Patrick Ah Van could face eight-match suspension after RFL charge

Three Widnes players are facing the threat of suspension after being charged by the Rugby Football League's match review panel.

Winger Patrick Ah Va n could be banned for between four and eight matches if he is found guilty of a grade E dangerous throw on Wakefield centre Ashley Gibson in last Friday's 18-16 home defeat by the Wildcats.

Gibson sustained a dislocated shoulder in the tackle and Ah Van was sin-binned for the offence.

In a stormy game, referee Joe Cobb also sin-binned two other Widnes players, Stefan Marsh for tripping, and hooker Lloyd White for a professional foul, and sent off Aaron Heremaia (Widnes) and Scott Moore (Wakefield) for fighting.

Marsh has been charged with a grade C offence, which carries a sanction of two to three matches, Heremaia has been cited for a grade A offence of punching. Both players are eligible to submit early guilty pleas but Ah Van must appear in front of a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday.

Moore will also face a hearing after being hit with three separate charges. He is accused of a grade B high tackle and two minor grade A offences of punching and contrary behaviour.

Salford hooker Logan Tomkins has been charged with a grade C offence of making dangerous contact on an opponent during his side's 44-26 win over Hull KR on Saturday for which he was sin-binned and Wigan prop Tony Clubb is accused of grade B striking with his shoulder during the Warriors' 40-10 defeat at Warrington last Thursday.

The panel also issued cautions to Hull prop Liam Watts, Salford centre Junior Sau, Hull KR second rower James Donaldson and Warrington centre or second rower Benjamin Jullien for foul play.
