Clermont Auvergne beat Racing Metro 31-15 at the Stade Marcel-Michelin to move up to second in the Top 14 table.
Victory saw the hosts move above Montpellier in the standings and displace Racing on points difference.
The scoreline was emphatic, but the match was much closer that it suggested.
Clermont even trailed 14-15 after 55 minutes of play, a total of two drop kicks and two penalties from the various boots of Frans Steyn, Mirco Bergamasco and Juan Martin Hernandez cancelling out Gonzalo Canale's try midway through the first half.
But a blistering haul in the final 25 minutes saw Clermont home, Vincent Debaty and Alexandre Lapandry getting the decisive tries.
