New Zealand and Auckland Blues star Luke McAlister is reportedly about to sign for Top 14 club Toulouse, meaning he will snub the All Blacks.
Toulouse spokesman Celine Cluzel has reportedly confirmed - to New Zealand media - that a representative of the club is in Auckland to discuss a lucrative move to the European continent.
Meanwhile McAlister's father Charlie, who also acts as his manager, said: "It doesn't matter where he goes; but if it's in Europe, that's great."
The playmaker, 23, plays at inside centre and deputises for Dan Carter at fly half. His departure would put the Kiwi World Cup preparations further in jeopardy.
Higher wages in Europe and Japan have recently proven problematic in keeping the best players in the country. Aaron Mauger, only 26, for example recently announced that he intends to sign with Premiership side Leicester.
New Zealand Rugby Union have meanwhile been boosted by the news that sensational wing Sitiveni Sivivatu will remain in the country.
Toulouse are second in France's national championship, a point behind Stade Francais with one match remaining; the end of season play-offs will follow.
