Stefan Kraft ended his year in scintillating style as a superb first jump paved the way for World Cup victory in Oberstdorf for the second time in three years.
Having also prevailed in the Four Hills Tournament in 2014, the Austrian's 308-point haul was enough for him to take opening honours – despite only qualifying in third place in Germany.
That was in no small part due to a seismic first effort of 139.0m, with only Kamil Stoch of Poland joining him above 150 points at the halfway mark.
Indeed Stoch even outjumped Kraft with his second attempt, but it wasn't enough to see him to top spot, forced to settle with the runner-up gong.
But it was Kraft who took the spoils once again in Oberstdorf, now just one point behind second-placed Daniel Andre Tande in the Ski Jumping World Cup standings, with the Norweigan star finishing fourth in Germany.
But both were able to make significant ground on World Cup overall standings leader Domen Prevc, only able to finish 26th with 254.7 points.
The 17-year-old Slovenian has been in imperious form this season, with his 545 World Cup points still comfortably ahead of Tande and Kraft heading towards the New Year.
