Switzerland’s Wendy Holdener climbed the second step of the podium, while local favourite Veronika Velez-Zuzulova was a further 0.41 seconds off the pace.
“The second round was a tough fight,” said Shiffrin. “At the finish there was nothing in it in my legs, so I am pleased to have won.”
But it was Sweden’s Frida Hansdotter who was celebrating claiming the overall slalom World Cup title, as her tenth-place finish was good enough to claim the crystal globe ahead of Velez-Zuzulova.
