Friday’s semi-final was Gilbert’s first at a ranking event but he showed no signs of nerves as he took a 5-3 lead in the afternoon session.

Gilbert took the first three frames of the evening session to open up a 8-3 lead, with his 112 in frame 10 the standout clearance of the semi-final.

However, Un-Nooh rallied and took frame 12 to ensure the semi-final went to an interval before grinding out the 13th 59-51.

Despite Un-Nooh’s best efforts, Gilbert claimed frame 14 to secure passage to the final.

Gilbert will face either Mark Selby or John Higgins in the final, where he will be guaranteed £64,000 in prize money.
