Lisowski, 26, opened proceedings with an impressive 128 total clearance, but O’Sullivan replied in kind, taking frames two and three with runs of 64 and 125.
The Rocket dominated the safety exchanges to open up a three-frame advantage, but Lisowski rallied to take frame six courtesy of breaks of 66 and 61.
Five-times world champion was always in control, and took the seventh frame to progress to the semi-final stage.
"I haven’t been winning as much these past two years, and so I am excited getting to this stage of the tournament. I want to win it now," said O'Sullivan, whose last tournament win was at the Masters in January.
O'Sullivan's last ranking win was the Welsh Open last year as he bids to join John Higgins as the second most prolific ranking event winner of all time on 29. Stephen Hendry remains out in front on 36.
“I am over the moon to be into the semi-finals. Jack is a talented player, and plays like he is practising and scores quickly. He is a lovely guy, I want him to do well."

Anthony McGill secured his ticket to the English Open semi-finals earlier on Friday as he downed Neil Robertson 5-3.
Australian Robertson, the former world no.1, made a confident start with a break of 85 to take the first frame, but McGill claimed the second frame with a run of 65.
After losing the third frame to the 2010 World Champion, 26-year-old McGill rallied to produce the second highest score of the match with 101 points and a break of 82.
The pair were level-pegging up until the seventh frame when McGill, currently ranked 16th in the world, took a frame's advantage over Robertson.
The Scotsman consolidated in the eighth and final frame, with a break of 86 - the highest of the match.
On the other side of the draw, young Swiss Alexander Ursenbacher will take on Kyren Wilson after he steamrollered Michael White 5-0.
The 21-year-old produced some stunning snooker, compiling runs of 55, 84, 51, and 93 to down White.
Wilson, who made the third round of the English Open last year, eased past world number 59 Hossein Vafaei 5-3 to make the semi-finals stage.
