John Higgins, Ding Junhui through in Shanghai
Updated 19/09/2016 at 21:08 GMT
John Higgins reversed a two-frame deficit to beat Matthew Selt 5-3 to progress to the second round of the Shanghai Open.
Runs of 55 and 73 saw Selt into a 2-0 lead in their match at the Shanghai Indoor Stadium but the Scot ground out the third frame to cut the arrears.
Selt, ranked 23rd in the world, managed to re-open the two frame advantage by emerging form the fifth but Higgins reeled off the next four frames – including a century break in frame five – to make the next round.
Elsewhere, Ding Junhui overcame world number 114 Scott Donaldson 5-4 to make the last 16.
Donaldson, who beat Peter Ebdon in qualifying, made a break of 56 in frame two on his way to a 3-1 lead but Ding, a former Shanghai Masters winner, rallied to level the match at 3-3, only to see Donaldson shade a tense seventh to put himself within one frame of the next round.
However, the "Star of the East" managed to secure the next two frames to progress to the round of 16.
