Having dominated the early sessions Hawkins had to fend off a fight back from his opponent, who notched a game high 135 break.

AFTERNOON SESSION

Five-time Crucible winner Ronnie O'Sullivan has been knocked out of the World Championships at the quarter-final stage, losing 13-10 to Ding Junhui.

MORNING SESSION

It was one way traffic as the Jester from Leicester barely gave Marco Fu a sniff in the morning session, winning all four opening frames as Fu failed to find his feet.
And the dominance continued after the mid-session break, with Selby racking up the biggest break of the tournament with a sensational 139.

'Sheer brilliance here at the Crucible!' - Double sets Selby up for big break

Fu restored some pride by getting on the board for the day. But Selby's relentless brilliance continued as the favourite bettered his 139 with a brilliant 143 break - his third century break in four frames to tee up the win.

'A miraculous clearance!' Selby stuns Crucible with 143 break

On this sort of form nobody is going to want to face the Jester... but the winner of the Ding Junhui v Ronnie O'Sullivan semi-final will have to.
Speaking afterwards Selby said "I think it was a good break because I was never in position. I just kept potting silly balls from nowhere. I got to about 80 and thought it was the end of the break, and I potted a black into the middle, potted a red down the rail, but when I got down to the black I was more nervous than in any part of the match.
"I was really, really happy to knock that final black in as well. It was a freaky break."
Fu was full of grace saying of his opponent: "He's unplayable at times. You've got to make him the favourite now after that performance,
"A lot of players have felt like that, I've done it many times, sitting in the chair and looking at the other player knocking in break after break. I've done it with Ronnie (O'Sullivan), John Higgins and Stephen Hendry before so it's not something that's new to me.
"Now it depends on what kind of performance Mark produces in the semi-finals. If he reproduces this sort of standard he's in the final, but whether he can produce it is a different story."
On the other table the Wizard of Wishaw looked in magic touch as he took two of the three morning frames to complete a comfortable win over Wilson.
The Englishman had his chances, but failed to take advantage of some big break opportunities to make Higgins' task even more straightforward than it had appeared at the resumption.
Higgins will play the winner of the quarter-final between Barry Hawkins and Stephen Maguire in the next round.
