Elise Christie named Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year 2017

Elise Christie has been named The Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year for 2017 after winning triple gold at this year's World Short Track Speed Skating Championships.

The 27-year-old won the 1500m title in Rotterdam back in March before snatching the 1000m and picking up the overall World Champion honour.
Christie also claimed 3000m bronze to prove the disappointment of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games are well and truly behind her.
And after admitting she's been through some dark times in the sport, Christie is now targeting gold medals at Pyeongchang in 2018.
"That's the goal and I definitely believe I can do it. It would mean so much to me after fighting back from everything and I'd love to do it for everyone else who has really supported me," she said.
"I feel like I've just won the World Championships again! I didn't expect to be nominated for something like this, so to win it is incredible.
"It was really difficult (after Sochi) I thought about quitting a few times, I wanted to change sports and things like that. It was really rough but I can't believe I turned it all around."
Rio Olympian Johanna Konta was awarded the runner-up prize in London on Thursday night after a stunning 12 months which saw her reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon.
Konta knocked out Simona Halep on the grass of the All England Club before falling to Venus Williams in the last-four and subsequently reached a career-high number four in the world rankings.
And Rio bronze medallist Bianca Walkden was third in The Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year Award after successfully defending her World Taekwondo Championship title in June.
Walkden was the first British fighter to achieve the feat when she beat USA's Jackie Galloway 14-4 in the +73kg category to seal back-to-back golds in South Korea.
"They are the days you wait for. Every day at training we have to get out of bed and we're dead tired but those are the moments we treasure and train every day for," she said.
"When you win it's the best feeling in the world and you can't describe it."
Gymnast Ellie Downie picked up the Young Sportswoman of the Year award after winning four medals, including all-round gold, at the European Championships in April.
