Luke Mossey secured a maiden British Superbikes triumph in race one at Brands Hatch.
The 24-year-old profited from pole sitter James Ellison’s crash on lap 12 to claim a welcome victory.
Leon Haslam, Christian Iddon and Shane Byrne – returning to the grid after missing Donington Park with a concussion – finished second to fourth respectively after an enthralling battle in the final few laps.
“I’ve been working my whole life for this moment,” Mossey told Eurosport. “I’m absolutely over the moon to get this out the way. Hopefully I can do the same in race two.”
Haslam leads the overall championship on 70 points, with Kawasaki team-mate Mossey on 56.
