Andre Agassi destroyed Wimbledon trophy after seeing Brooke Shields flirt with Joey in Friends scene

In her new book, There Was A Little Girl: The Real Story of Mother and Me, actress Brooke Shields reveals how former husband Agassi lost his temper and stormed through the Friends set after watching her lick actor Matt Le Blanc’s fingers in what is regarded as one of the most iconic scenes in the TV show’s history.

Eight-time Grand Slam winner Agassi was dating Shields at the time and verbally attacked the actress following the scene, telling her that she had “made him look a fool” before getting in his car in Los Angeles and driving all the way home to Las Vegas in a furious rage.

“Upon arrival he systematically smashed and destroyed every single trophy he had won, including Wimbledon and the US Open, never mind all the others,” she added.

The ‘Blue Lagoon’ actress claims that it took her three years to have all of the trophies replaced following the shocking incident in 1995.

The couple eventually wed in 1997, but filed for divorce just weeks before their second anniversary. Shields, however, admitted that she knew she had made a mistake in marrying the tennis star just ONE day after the ceremony.

“I could not form a sentence. I kept shaking my head as if I had duct tape across my mouth. It hit me all of a sudden - I knew I had made a mistake. I did not want to be married… I wanted to be a bride but I shouldn't have been married yet.”

Agassi, widely regarded as one of tennis’ greatest ever players after claiming four Australian Open titles, two US Opens as well as Wimbledon and the French Open, is no stranger to controversy, having admitted to taking crystal meth during his incredible 20-year career.

The former world number one married fellow tennis player, Germany’s Steffi Graf in 2001.
