Andy Murray 'unlikely to play again this season' due to hip injury

Andy Murray has said he is ‘unlikely to play again this season’ due to an ongoing hip injury.

The world No 2, who was forced to pull out of the US Open on the weekend before the tournament, has been managing the problem for the past few months and was knocked out of Wimbledon by Sam Querrey while clearly struggling.
Murray made the announcement on his Facebook page, saying he is definitely out of the upcoming evens in Beijing and Shanghai and 'most likely' the Vienna and Paris events as well.
It almost certainly means he is out of the season-ending final – the ATP World Tour Finals – in London in November.
In his message, he added: "Having consulted with a number of leading hip specialists over the last week, along with my own team, we have decided that this is the best decision for my long-term future.
Although this has been a frustrating year on court for many reasons, I’m confident after this extended period of rest and rehabilitation that I will be able to reach my best level again and be competing for Grand Slam titles next season.
Murray also said that he will be in Brisbane at the start of next year, ahead of the Australian Open and could also feature in a charity event in Glasgow.
