Grigor Dimitrov relinquished just two games as he demolished David Goffin at the ATP World Tour Finals in London, sealing top spot in Group Pete Sampras in the process.
The Bulgarian reeled off the opening nine games without reply in a 6-0 6-2 triumph.
By finishing top, Dimitrov avoids Roger Federer in the semi-finals, with the 26-year-old set to meet the winner of Alexander Zverev’s clash with Jack Sock in the last four.
He soared through the opening set in 27 minutes, crumbling any confidence Goffin gained from his win over a wounded Rafael Nadal on Monday.
And while the second set was marginally tougher, Dimitrov duly swatted away his opponent’s only break point as he eased through the 74-minute encounter at the O2 Arena.
Dimitrov beat Dominic Thiem in three sets in his opener.
Pablo Carreno Busta, an injury replacement for world number one Nadal, meets Thiem in the late match.
The Spaniard has a tiny chance of reaching the semi-finals, but he must beat Thiem and then Dimitrov to have any chance – a tall order for a player who was probably mentally on his winter holiday before his late call-up.
