Johanna Konta brought crashing back to earth after Julia Görges shows class in comfortable win

Johanna Konta was knocked out of the French Open after a disappointing first-round loss to Julia Görges at Roland Garros.
The British No 1 and 20th seed at the season's second Grand Slam, who reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open earlier this year, went down 6-2 6-3 and was joined by compatriot Laura Robson who succumbed to Andrea Petkovic 6-2 6-2.
It is fair to say Konta was largely outclassed by Germany's world number 57 Görges.
It means Heather Watson is the only British woman into the second round in Paris, and is a perplexing outcome for Konta after her stirring run in January took her to one win of the final in Melbourne and earned her a guest appearance on the Jonathan Ross show on prime time Saturday night TV in the UK.
Konta will need to regroup for the grass court season and an appearance at Wimbledon where she is expected to challenge strongly on a surface that may be more to her liking.
She also has the US Open in August, a tournament where she reached the fourth round last season.
Görges was once ranked inside the top 15 and showed her pedigree with 30 winners compared to a paltry four by the Brit, who was seeded at a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.
