The world no.1 is reported to have been taking antibiotics over the last week, though his spokesman is quoted by The Times as saying he is "on the mend."
Without disclosing any further details, the paper says:
Andy Murray has been hit by a fresh bout of illness before the French Open but the world No 1 hopes to recover in time for the tournament.
The Daily Mail also carries details of Murray's condition:
Andy Murray is confronting another health scare as he prepares for next week's French Open. The world No 1 has been on antibiotics to counteract viral symptoms and is said to have barely practised on Monday and Tuesday this week after feeling what his spokesman described as 'under the weather'. However he was able to put in a vigorous practice session on Thursday, on the Court Philippe Chatrier at Roland Garros.
The illness comes after a string of physical issues over the beginning of the season, including being diagnosed with viral disease shingles in February, which can affect those suffering from it for some time. Shortly after this, an elbow injury saw Murray withdraw from the Miami Open and the Davis Cup.
Nonetheless, Murray was fit enough to train on Thursday, having been reunited with coach Ivan Lendl, whom he has not worked with at a tournament since the beginning of the year.
The Roland Garros top seed is set to attend his pre-tournament press conference on Friday afternoon after the draw which takes place on Friday morning.
The French Open draw takes place at 11am on Friday and can be watched live on Eurosport 1 and via our Facebook page.
