Andy Murray’s disappointing form as World Number One continued as the British star crashed out of the Madrid Open in the third round, losing in straight sets to Borna Coric.

Coric, who only gained a place at the tournament as a ‘lucky loser’ thanks to an injury picked up by Richard Gasquet, was in inspired form on the Spanish clay, taking the match 6-3 6-3.
A disappointing first set summed up Andy Murray's tough afternoon, with the Scot hitting 15 unforced errors, culminating in a poor backhand into the net that handed a second break and the set to Coric.
And just the one break was enough for Coric to seal set two and the match as the clay-court specialist continued his good form following his maiden tour title in Morocco last month.
It's the first time that Coric has beaten a World No. 1, but not the first time he has beaten Murray. The Croatian also got the better of Murray in Dubai back in 2015 - once again as one of the tournament's 'lucky losers'.
