Naomi Broady crashes out in Luxembourg

The British number three, who saved match point against former Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki in the previous round, suffered a 6-0 5-7 6-1 defeat.

Broady was overwhelmed in the opening set and the second looked destined for a similar outcome as she trailed 3-0, cutting a frustrated figure as her serve continued to unravel.

She showed tenacity to re-calibrate her sights and, combined with a mini-collapse from Puig, she fought back to 3-5 and then 7-5 only to come unstuck in the decider.
