Novak Djokovic downs Juan Martin del Potro in Rome
Novak Djokovic beat Juan Martin del Potro 6-1 6-4 to progress to the semi-final stage of the Rome Masters.
A dominant Djokovic, 29, eased to victory in one hour and 32 minutes and will now face Dominic Thiem, who he has never lost to, for a place in the final.
The world number two reeled off six games on the bounce after Del Potro opened the match with a break of the Serb’s serve.
The second stanza was a more competitive affair but Djokovic secured the all-important break in the fifth game to seal his progression.
Djokovic now won 13 of the 17 meetings between the pair.
