Four fire engines and a 20-strong crew battled the fire as it raged through a hedge near Gate 1, which is close to Wimbledon’s No.1 Court.
The drama was captured by a passer-by:
"Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers have been called to reports of a fire in the practice court area of the All England Tennis and Croquet Club on Church Road in Wimbledon," the Fire Brigade said in a statement on their website.
"The fire damaged around one tonne of mixed building materials, around 20 metres of hedgerow and a small section of a temporary marquee."
The cause of the fire is unknown.
