TAIPEI CITY - Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade is expected to attract around 10,000 athletes from more than 120 countries, making it the biggest international multi-sport event Chinese Taipei has ever hosted. It will not only be a stage upon which international athletes can achieve their dreams, but also a platform where Chinese Taipei’s youth can show their creative power and vitality to the world.
The Opening Ceremony will officially begin at 7 pm on 19 August at Taipei Stadium, lasting for about three hours. In contrast to the Opening Ceremony, during the Closing Ceremony the audience will be on their feet and dance; swaying with the rise and fall of electronic beats from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Before both ceremonies, there will be a Prologue Programme of one hour.
The performances will center on the Taipei Universiade slogan “For You. For Youth” and will also reflect the FISU slogan “Today’s Stars, Tomorrow’s Leaders.” All the tickets, including the Ceremonies and Competitions, are now available for purchase!
Tickets for the Taipei 2017 Universiade went on sale on 13 June via the official ticketing website: https://tickets.2017.taipei and from kiosk machines in the three main convenience stores (7-ELEVEN ibon, Hi-Life Life-ET and OK Mart OK‧Go). The ticket prices for the Opening Ceremony are NT$800, $2000, and $3500, around 80% of the tickets are priced NT$800; the ticket prices for the Closing Ceremony are NT$500, $1000, $2000, with around 80% of the tickets are priced NT$500. Competition tickets are priced NT$200 and $300 as for One-Day Ticket. Seniors over 65 years old and children under 12 years old can enjoy 50% off discount for the original ticket price; groups of more than 20 people can have a 30% off discount and an extra 20% off if they purchase tickets before 31 July; also there is 50-60% off discount for bulk ticket purchases. During the competition period, only around 10-20% of tickets are selling on-site at venues. There is a big difference in each venue’s capacity. For instance, the billiards venue, Expo Dome of Taipei EXPO Park has just 180 seats, thus only around 40 tickets per day will be retained. However, the Athletics venue, Taipei Stadium, has over 14,000 seats, so around 1,200 tickets per day will be available on-site at the venue. Due to the limited quantity of the tickets, it is advisable to purchase tickets in advance when the pre-order discounts are available.
Also, everyone who purchases competition tickets can take part in the lucky draw, so please keep the ticket stub to join the activity. The details of the lucky draw and prizes will be announced in July.
