BUCS creates New Rugby Union League: BUCS Super Rugby

LONDON - BUCS, with the backing of England Rugby has launched its new rugby union league, called ‘BUCS Super Rugby’. The new league will see the top 8 men’s teams in the country battle it out for the right to go head-to-head in the final, held at Twickenham on 30March 2017.
The league was launched at Twickenham with a media day that included the coaches and captains of the competing universities and it created 1,000 pieces of media coverage in the following week: http://www.englandrugby.com/news/bucs-super-rugby-launched-twickenham/
The first matches took place on Wednesday 5 October, with great attendance figures: Loughborough vs Exeter attracting a crowd of 3,600 and Durham vs Hartpury played in front of a crowd of over 2,000. To put that in context, the 2nd tier of professional rugby (“The Championship”) in England averages 1,470 this season.
