FADU promotes Sport Activities and Conferences at #IDUS2016

PORTO - The FADU, Portugal University Sports, promoted on 17 and 18 September the celebrations of the International Day of University Sports (IDUS), at Edificio Transparente at Porto.
The first day was dedicated to the FADU Forum, attended by some of the leading figures of the National University Sports.
José Manuel Constantino, President of the Olympic Committee of Portugal, Mario Santos, Secretary General of the EUG 2018 and Head of Olympic Mission London 2012 and Pedro Seabra, handball player and recent graduate in medicine, named best national player in 2015/2016, were some of the names present.
On the second day, FADU and Academic Federation of Porto promoted a day of sports activities, open to the public and the first Tournament Inter-Academies of the International Day of University Sports, where attended ten teams from around the country.
About seven dozens of young students attended this initiative, where the winner was the AE ISEP. Second place went to the AAUAv and thirdly, the AAUTAD.
"This is another mission of the university sport”, FADU President Daniel Monteiro said. “Not only work ‘inside’, but also take the sport to society, making the sport to work as an inter-generational connection platform and accessible to all.”
The president of Porto Academic Federation (FAP), Daniel Freitas, believes that "the celebrations of the International Day of University Sports were a big success" and "the number of activities which includes some academies in a healthy sporting competition are representative elements of student involvement in sport.”
The celebrations of the International Day of University Sports promoted by FADU had the support of the Porto Academic Federation of Porto City Council, the CDUP and Edificio Transparente.
