Ramsha Khan all set for Gwangju

PAKISTAN – Ramsha Khan, a 21-year-old taekwondo competitor from Karachi University, Pakistan is all set to board the plane for the Gwangju Summer Universiade. Khan started her career back in 2001 when she was in school. She entered her first national in 2009. She has won three gold medals in the national championship. Khan has previously received an award for being the best Pakistani Taekwondo competitor. To date, she has received some twenty gold, three silver and one bronze medal for outstanding performances. She also won a silver medal in the 1st Open Asia Taekwondo Championship in 2013, held in Korea, and a bronze medal in the 4th Asian University Championship.

Khan said she is hopeful to perform well in the upcoming Summer Universiade. She also stated that she is at this performance level due to tireless efforts from her family and her instructors. “I want to brighten up my country’s name and make my parents and my instructor more proud of me,” she added.

She emphasized on the idea that the university sports should be encouraged, and incentives should be awarded to the students so more and more university athletes take part in such events. She said that “these events help athletes to improve themselves and their game”. She further added that “training sessions should also be arranged because they are very important for athletes to build capacity for their futures.”
