Monteiro gets words of support from WTCC racers
Several FIA World Touring Car Championship racers have sent words of support to Tiago Monteiro after the WTCC title leader was hospitalised following a testing crash in Spain last week.
Monteiro was due to spend the weekend in hospital in Barcelona before being re-assessed today (Monday) when his return to his native Portugal will be discussed.
Tom Coronel wrote on Facebook: “Eat, sleep and get your ass back in that racing seat. I would like to wish my good friend the best recovery”.
Norbert Michelisz, Monteiro’s WTCC team-mate wrote: “Get well soon, Tiago”, while Manuel Fernandes, who made his WTCC debut at Vila Real, Portugal in late June, simply wrote: “Strength Tiago”.
Monteiro’s Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team said on Friday that it was confident that its driver would return to full fitness for WTCC Race of China from 13-15 October.
