We asked our colleagues across Europe to pick their best sporting moment from 2017…
Ivan Castello – Eurosport Spain
It’s a tight call between Nadal awesome record of a tenth title at Roland Garros and the amazing victory of Alberto Contador in the hardest stage (L’Angliru, Vuelta).
Alessandro Brunetti – Eurosport Italy
Pellegrini winning the gold in the 200m at the Swimming World Championships.
Siavoush Fallahi – Eurosport Sweden
When Sweden made it to the World Cup knocking Italy out in the play-offs.
Laurent Vergne and Maxime Dupuis – Eurosport France
Pierre-Ambroise Bosse winning the 800m in London. From a pure performance point standpoint, it may not be the best (Fourcade in biathlon, or Teddy Riner with 10 World Cup titles is more impressive) but it was the biggest emotional moment for France in sport this year. The way Bosse shocked everyone during the last 250m was incredible.
Piotr Onami – Eurosport Poland
Kamil Stoch winning the Four Hills Tournament, becoming the first Polish ski jumper to achieve that since 2001.
Luis Holuch – Eurosport Germany
Johannes Rydzek winning four gold medals at the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships in Lahti 2017.
Maxim Akmantsev – Eurosport Russia
2017 was a big year for Russia. Big but not happy. We didn’t have many victories so every successful participation of a Russian athlete can combine as a best moment of 2017. But the most important of them was the victory of Maria Lasitskene in London.
