Aksel Lund Svindal became just the fourth man in alpine World Cup history to win a race in at least 12 different calendar years with victory at the Kitzbuehel Super-G.
Svindal led home a Norwegian one-two in Austria, with Kjetil Jansrud take the second step on the podium exactly half a second behind his compatriot.
Matthias Mayer claimed third for the host nation just 0.06s behind Jansrud, with fellow Austrian Hannes Reichelt only 0.01s behind his teammate.
The result moves Svindal 20 points closer to his compatriot atop the Super-G World Cup standings, with Jansrud leading the way on 260 and his teammate second on 214.
A quartet of Austrians then follow, with Vincent Kriechmayr the best placed on 200 points with Franz and Mayer in fifth and sixth, respectively.
While in the overall alpine World Cup it is still Austria’s Marcel Hirscher leading the way on 974 points but Svindal’s win did once again move him closer to Jansrud in the standings – this time with the pair in third and fourth, more than 150 points off Henrik Kristoffersen in second.
